Chîhi Biho Mîze

Chîhi Biho Mîze (/ˈænɑ/ /ˈbiho/ [small; little] [bed]) is a temperate Town located in Kěkzamrǐm Zone, Àsu̹ Ûyu̹ Empire, within the Warrenese Shogunate.

The name Chîhi Biho Mîze is derived from the Wareneese language, as Chîhi Biho Mîze was founded by Androusli Zachwafyul̄ Glkëmêpí, who was culturaly Wareneese.

Climate

Chîhi Biho Mîze has a yearly average temperature of 5°C (41°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cool 20°C (68°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a freezing -9°C (16°F). Chîhi Biho Mîze receives an average of 276 cm/y (108 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Chîhi Biho Mîze covers an area of nearly 5 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 1104 m (3622 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Chîhi Biho Mîze was founded durring the early 11th century, by Androusli Zachwafyul̄ Glkëmêpí. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Androusli Zachwafyul̄ Glkëmêpí.

Chîhi Biho Mîze was built using the conventions of Wareneese durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Chîhi Biho Mîze is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Chîhi Biho Mîze is buildings are arranged arround a single spacious carved bedrock mainstreet with many smaller streets branching off of it which gives the town a over all rectangular shape, albit one warped and twisted by the nature of the curves of the main road. The town lacks any defencive features, though certainly constructing even a simple fence or digging a ditch is at the forefront of the 's mind. At least, one would hope so.

A look around Chîhi Biho Mîze makes you worry someone might stab you in a dark ally for your boots. It’s not filthy, or dark, but the smiles seem strained, the locals seem to glare daggers in eachothers backs a little too much, and everyone is armed at all times. You may want to keep an eye on your valuables, and make sure you don’t wind up in any position of power.

Civic Infrastructure

Chîhi Biho Mîze has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Chîhi Biho Mîze. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Chîhi Biho Mîze's parks.

Chîhi Biho Mîze has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Chîhi Biho Mîze's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Chîhi Biho Mîze possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Chîhi Biho Mîze has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Chîhi Biho Mîze's natural decorations nor waterways.

Chîhi Biho Mîze has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Chîhi Biho Mîze has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Chîhi Biho Mîze's citizens locals enjoy many vices and lustful appetites. They may have religious sanction for their deeds, or neighbors might trade with them for such things, or they could be followers of some ideology that blesses such pursuits. Their economy or their social organization is usually heavily reliant on such traffic, and to ensure its continuance they may have made bargains with various mortal and immortal powers.

Chîhi Biho Mîze's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known for its fluid and florid elaborate style, comprising ornate, asymmetric designs and pastel shades. It is often considered to be a playful, light style, which made exuberant use of curves and emphasized subtle asymmetry in the general shape of its structures. Walls, ceilings and moldings are decorated with numerous interlacing of curves and counter-curves based on the shapes of ‘C’ and ‘S’, along with shell forms and other naturalistic shapes.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is recurring in Chîhi Biho Mîze.

Chîhi Biho Mîze's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves line dance to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 2 via divine sermons.

Economy

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Chîhi Biho Mîze was attacked by a group of nobles with their private armies. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Chîhi Biho Mîze lost 122 people, 338 livestock, and 46 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 50, when members of Chîhi Biho Mîze's militia enacted an operation to delay the operations of the enemy. The operation was complicated by freezing cold, such that the troops suffered frostbite. The conflict ended with the defense of the port against a siege, which ended in victory for Chîhi Biho Mîze's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Chîhi Biho Mîze's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
